As May comes to a close, I have to say– this has been a pretty sweet month! I mean, hello amazing produce! Cherries, peaches, radishes, strawberries and so much more has come into season. And then there’s the grilling. Oh yes, sweet grilling. The weather has finally taken a turn for the better allowing for outdoor cooking. So exciting!
So I’m here to share with you all of my favorite things about May! Here’s a little taste:
Favorite Seasonal Pick
Drum roll please. My favorite seasonal delicacy from May would have to be AVOCADOS. Okay, I’m kind of cheating here because avocados are pretty much always in season, but they have been particularly gorgeous this month.

So I can’t say I was surprised when I saw our most popular Pin for the month of May. If you haven’t checked this recipe out already, our Cherry Horchata is just like a traditional horchata (a blended almond and rice drink), but with the addition of fresh cherries. It’s so refreshing and silky smooth.
Favorite Thing This Month
I just love ready the amazing and mouthwatering work of other food bloggers. Y’all are truly amazing! But one thing that really caught my eye this week was naked cakes. I’m always disturbed by how much frosting and fondant I feel I have to add to a cake make it look beautiful. How about a little cake with that frosting?!
So I was really blown away when I saw all the gorgeous cakes out there that are being made with a minimal amount of frosting. That’s right– raw cake edges all out there in the open with just a tad bit of frosting smeared on. These cakes focus on the flavor of the filling and on the gorgeous presentation that is happening on the top of the cake. They’re also not as sickingly sweet as other cakes. Enough blabber– let me show you what I mean!
You really can’t go wrong with fresh berries! This delicious cake is smothered in a pretty pink glaze and crowned with fresh seasonal strawberries. A honey cream cheese frosting is the foundation for this beautiful summery cake.
It’s going to be hard to top May, but another killer month is headed our way. We already got a head start on 4th of July recipes and are excited for what the future brings. In fact, rumor has it one of our recipes may just be featured in a magazine! We’ll keep you posted. Thanks for an amazing month, guys!
